Jeff Barr joined Amazon in 2002, became the company’s first web services evangelist in 2003, and founded the AWS News Blog in 2004. In his role as Chief Evangelist, Jeff strives to explain the benefits of cloud computing and web services to anyone who will listen. He has written over 3000 posts for the AWS Blog and another 1100 for his personal blog, records weekly AWS update videos, and maintains an active social media presence. Jeff earned his Bachelor’s degree in computer science from American University and his Master’s degree in Communication and Digital Media from the University of Washington. Before coming to Amazon, Jeff held development and management positions at Microsoft, KnowNow, eByz, and Akopia, and was a co-founder of Visix Software. Jeff has been a technical reviewer for 4 books on web services, wrote a chapter on advanced scripting for a book on Second Life, and is the author of Host Your Website in the Cloud, published by SitePoint in 2010.

Cody Powell leads the Compute Infrastructure group at Snap, focusing on Snapchat's backend evolution from a monolith to hundreds of global, reliable microservices powered by Kubernetes, Envoy, Spinnaker, and custom orchestration layers. Prior to Snap, he was an engineering leader at Amazon Video.

You’ve probably written a hundred abstracts in your day, but have you come up with a template that really seems to resonate? Go back through your past webinar inventory and see what events produced the most registrants. Sure – this will vary by topic but what got their attention initially was the description you wrote.

Paint a mental image of the benefits of attending your webinar. Often times this can be summarized in the title of your event. Your prospects may not even make it to the body of the message, so get your point across immediately.  Capture their attention, pique their interest, and push them towards the desired action (i.e. signing up for your event). You have to make them focus and you have to do it fast. Using an active voice and bullet points is great way to do this.

Always add key takeaways. Something like this....In this session, you’ll learn about:

  • You know you’ve cringed at misspellings and improper grammar before, so don’t get caught making the same mistake.
  • Get a second or even third set of eyes to review your work.
  • It reflects on your professionalism even if it has nothing to do with your event.
